A slim, deadly subsurface pattern built for getting down fast. The heavy tungsten gold bead, black thread body with bright blue ribbing, and sparse black hackle fibres make this one of the most versatile and productive nymphs in any Canadian angler's box. Shown here in two sizes, giving you options to match everything from tiny midges to larger chironomids.
When to Use:
Best Time of Year: Year-round, but especially effective during late fall, winter, and early spring when midges and chironomids are the primary food source. An absolute must during ice-off on BC and Ontario lakes.
Imitates: Midge larvae and pupae, chironomid larvae. The blue ribbing adds a segmented flash that triggers fish even in off-colour water.
Target Fish: Rainbow trout and lake trout in still water across BC and the interior. Exceptional for stillwater chironomid fishing on lakes like Kamloops-area waters. Equally effective for stream trout in Ontario and Atlantic salmon parr. Can also pick up walleye and perch when jigged slowly near the bottom.
Pro Tip: Fish the larger size under an indicator in still water at depth, and drop the smaller size off a dropper tag 12 inches above the larger one for a two-fly rig. In rivers, dead drift near the bottom through slow runs and tailouts.
